We both agree: roses are overrated. The way to our hearts is through FOOD. Whether you’re a fan of Valentine’s Day or not, you can’t deny it’s a great excuse to make and eat a bunch of yummy treats. We’ve compiled a list of our favourite recipes that will impress your special someone, whether it be a date, a friend, or yourself!
PS – we strongly suggest these recipes be sided with a big glass o’ wine.
Chelsea’s Top 5:
Salted Dark Chocolate Coconut Bites. Anything dipped in chocolate is a Valentine’s Day Win. These easy-to-make coconut treats are one of our most popular posts! Your date will never know they only took about 10 minutes to make.
Nutella & Pomegranate Chocolate Cups. Again, chocolate. Filled with creamy Nutella and fresh pomegranate seeds, these are so decadent they’ll definitely impress the special someone you’re making them for (even if it’s just yourself).
White Chocolate Matcha Cheesecake Bites. Who needs roses when you can have cheesecake? Maybe it’s the fact these are bite-sized that makes them so good. Or maybe it’s the graham cracker crust. Or the matcha glaze. Nah, probably just the fact that it’s cheesecake.
PB&J Whoopie Pies. If the name doesn’t sound Valentine-sy enough (they need to bring back The Newlywed Game!), these cookies take a classic childhood flavour combination and turn it into a sultry dessert.
Earl Grey Crème Brûlée. Who doesn’t love cracking into the top of a crème brûlée? No one, that’s who. This creamy custard dessert tastes like Earl Grey tea in, well, custard form.
Finn’s Top 5:
Restaurant-style Beef Tenderloin & Fresh Pasta. Skip the crowded restaurant and have a romantic night in with this winning combo. The best part? The whole meal takes less than half an hour to put together, meaning you have more time to focus on… other things. 😉
Blackberry Raspberry Tart. This easy to make open-faced pie can be made in advance, as it serves best at room temperature. Fill it with any combination of your favourite berries and wow your date with your (secretly ultra-easy and fool-proof) pastry making skills!
Butternut Squash Risotto with Smoked Bacon & Crispy Fried Sage. This impressive one-pot meal is all about the simmer. Skip the bacon and double up on the crispy sage if your paramour is vegetarian or vegan. Naturally gluten-free, too! Remember, high maintenance can be just another word for high quality…
Dark Chocolate Dipped Cherry-Amaretto Madeleines. Dark. Chocolate. Dipped. Is there anything sexier, really…
Engagement Meatballs. Okay, so the picture’s not my best. This is from back in the early Port and Fin days when I was still taking pictures with my iPhone. Still, this one stands as one of my favourite recipes of all time. I mean, I called them “Engagement Meatballs” because I literally decided to marry my husband when he made them for me*. If that doesn’t spell Winning Valentine’s Meal, I don’t know what does…
* I might have been considering it before then, but these meatballs were definitely the clincher.
Wow, I sure do eat a lot of meals on that stone table of mine. Huh.

I concur that Valentine’s Day is overrated. Great choices, you two! I can’t imagine having to pick. Best recipes (and easy!) to make foods ever! Great job! 🙂

Thanks, Sher! Any excuse to eat is a valid excuse to me!
