Finn and I actually got together this weekend, which is quite a feat considering we live in different cities. Just because we run a food blog together doesn’t mean we see each other all the time, unfortunately. But this weekend we made it happen; we took our Pups and Plus Ones on a nice long walk and had full intentions on taking some shameless selfies as proof of our get together. Naturally, we forgot all about the photos. Oops. Puppies are distracting.
One day we’ll have proof that we actually hang out in person. Hopefully on our next meet-up!
If you’ve visited Port and Fin before, you probably know all about my intense sweet tooth. I only talk about it all the time. I like baking sweet things, and I like eating sweet things. It’s a curse blessing.
Lately, though, I’ve been trying to occasionally replace refined sugars with healthier, natural alternatives. I’m not going to turn down a slice o’ chocolate cake (have you seen my last couple of posts?), but if I can make small changes in my daily routine, every little bit helps.
I’ve been trying this new thing where I don’t eat dessert on weeknights. I usually like to snack on a cookie or some chocolate after dinner (because yum), but if you have two cookies every night, or a couple squares of chocolate, it really adds up throughout the week. I’m trying to skip the sweets Monday-Thursday so I can enjoy them all the more Friday-Sunday.
It’s harder than it sounds.
In my attempt to curb my overwhelming craving the other night, I had to make something. I grabbed a grapefruit, some greek yogurt, and this yummy greek yogurt sundae was born.
It’s a way healthier “dessert” that’ll trick your brain into thinking you’re satisfying your sugar craving when you’re really just packing in more healthy, good-for-you-food: Greek yogurt, grapefruit, chia seeds, coconut, almonds, and naturally sweetened honey. You can add a pinch of sugar to help reduce the tartness of the grapefruit, but only if that’s your taste preference! You certainly don’t need it.
This might be my new weeknight dessert.

This was SO delicious!! I followed your exact recipe and I don’t think it was too thick at all. It was nice and creamy and the flavors were great! My husband ate two bowlfuls and wanted more. We had plenty for leftovers. Thanks–this is a keeper!
